A really different day than of late, reverting back to
proper island weather – a strong NW wind, completely overcast and long periods
of driving rain sweeping across; unsurprisingly passerine migrants all but
disappeared with waders and seawatching taking the fore with 3 Manx Shearwaters
and a summer plumaged Black-throated Diver passing the north end in
the morning.
Other
migrant totals included a Pintail, a Grey Plover, 336 Sanderling, 115 Purple
Sandpipers, 112 Dunlin, 5 Black-tailed Godwits, a Whimbrel, a Greenshank, a
Wood Sandpiper, 478 Turnstone, a Lesser Whitethroat and 4 Chiffchaffs.
