A strong cold northerly wind dominated the day but it did
remain largely dry throughout; the days highlights consisted of a pair of Red-necked Phalaropes only just visible in amongst the thick Mare’s Tail on Hooking
Loch – prime breeding habitat if ever I saw it and a female Red-backed Shrike caught in T1. Other
bits included the Whooper Swan, 49 Knot, 20 Bar-tailed Godwits and a
Woodpigeon.
