Fair Isle Fire

Tragic news yesterday of the awful fire breaking out at Fair Isle Bird Observatory, destroying the entire building.   I was on Fair Isle for four years, two in the old building, a year and a half of the new building being built and then through the opening in 2010, it was heart-breaking to see the smoke billowing up throughout the day, visible clearly from North Ronaldsay.   I didn't take many pictures back in the day but I did take a few of the building process back in 2009.
