Fairly light but
continuous rain right through the morning prevented any ringing so I headed
over for a look at Bøtø where waders included single Temminck’s Stint and Little
Stint with 9 Dunlin, 7 Spotted
Redshank, 3 Wood Sandpipers, a Greenshank, 3 Bar-tailed Godwits, 6 Ringed
Plovers and 20 Snipe while a good flock of 60
Bar-tailed Godwits went over high to the west. Ducks included 2 Pintail and a Garganey in
with 262 Teal, 30 Wigeon and 76 Gadwall while other birds seen in the drizzle
included a Great White Egret and several Water Rails.
The rain eased off by midday so I got some nets open
but perhaps predictably there was little in the garden and I managed 10 new
birds in a few hours including 2 Tree Pipits; that was about it for the day
really with a couple of Swifts overhead and 2 or 3 Sparrowhawks whizzing
around.
German (probably) ringed Black-headed Gull on the harbour wall
Danish (probably) ringed Herring Gull also on the harbour wall
Musk Beetle, Aromia moschata
Great Green Bush Cricket, Tettigonia viridissima
