Perfectly clear with light
winds first thing developing into another warm, sunny day but the easterly
breeze picked up later on; there were a few more birds in the nets through the
morning with 54 new birds caught mostly made up of 29 Robins with a couple of
Redstarts and Spotted Flycatchers the best of the rest. A couple of Crossbill flocks and a Grey
Wagtail were overhead with the usual Siskin and Chaffinches while a Whinchat
was also in the garden.
A look out on the point (1330-1530) was pretty quiet
(I kind of expected a bit more) but was highlighted by a Red-throated Pipit which flew over calling as I walked up the road;
other birds included 13 Sparrowhawks, a Marsh Harrier, a Grey Plover, 3
Oystercatchers, 4 Red-breasted Mergansers, 24 Common Scoter and a flock of 43
Golden Plover over the fields. A little
look at Kroghage late afternoon just produced a ringtail Hen Harrier of note.
